Refer A Patient Dr Sherry Salter
Referral Process
Dr Sherry Salter accepts referrals from GPs and Specialists for General Surgery and Renal access surgery. They can refer by HealthLink, email or fax and the patient will be contacted directly to arrange an appointment. A current referral is needed to claim a Medicare rebate.
You will hear from Dr Salter after the consultation, with her assessment and what she recommends. If your patient proceeds to surgery, you will receive a discharge letter explaining how the operation progressed, wound care, recovery and the follow up plan.
New referrals are seen promptly.

What your patient can expect
At the initial appointment, Dr Salter will talk through your patient’s symptoms and any concerns they have. If surgery is the treatment for your patient, then the benefits and risks of the operation will be discussed. Dr Salter will tell your patient when surgery is not the right pathway.
After your patient’s surgery, Dr Salter will call their next of kin to discuss how the operation progressed. She will review your patient on the ward to explain the operation findings to them, discuss their recovery and follow-up arrangements.
On discharge, Dr Salter will send you a discharge letter to let you know about your patient’s operation, their recovery and their follow-up plan.
